It shares its’ boundary with Shompangkha Gewog in the west, Chudzom Gewog to the north, Samtenling Gewog to the east and India border to the south. Dekiling Middle Secondary School, earlier known as Leopani Primary School was established in 1963 with Mr. Subba as the first headmaster. The school began with classes PP-III. Since then, it served as a center of learning for the entire villages under Dekiling Gewog. The school has came a long way from primary school to a middle secondary school today. The school was closed down in 1990 and was reopended in 1999 with Mr. Tshering Norbu as the headmaster.

It has cool winter months and hot and humid summer months with heavy precipitation especially during the months of July, August and September. It has luxuriant vegetation. The fragrances of many exotic medicinal herbs and the flowers that take turns to bloom in different seasons add beauty to the school.

Besides the newly constructed buildings, the old buildings of those times still stand strong and provide us with the glimpses of Dekiling during the 1960s. The school has a mixed population of Lhotshampas and Zhisarpas (resetelers). As a result, it is a learning place for different cultures and background besides the instructional teaching and learning.
